“Patience is the secret weapon”

What is it with photographers and this whole "patience" thing?

Last night, I went to see Stephen Wilkes speak on GW's campus.  Like Abell, it was a combination of lecture and slideshow and inspiration.  His work – or at least the work he showed – was a bit more commercial than I think, but some of his personal work, like Ellis Island, is breathtaking.  He said he shot on the island for five years and if he got three good photos in a day, it was an amazing day of work.  That just boggles my mind.

Of course, I'm trying to do a Year in Pictures on Flickr and I have literally snapped one photo today.  I have 10 minutes to try to get one worth posting.  Eek!

See, doesn’t that make you feel better about your ratio of photos taken to photos you like? Can you imagine if you were doing this on film?
